POSITION SUMMARY

Physician assistants (PA’s) practice medicine under the supervision of physicians and Medical Directors. Physician assistants are formally trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services, as delegated by a physician. Working as members of the health care team, they take medical histories, examine and treat patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and x rays, and make diagnoses.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Examine patients to obtain information about their physical condition.  Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.

Make diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients.

Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination.

Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests

Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval.

Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and infection management.

Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.

Provide physicians with assistance during complicated medical procedures.

Supervise and coordinate activities of technicians and technical assistants.

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements

  • Must possess a PA or a PA-C certification
  • Proficient in electronic medical record documentation
  • Must possess CPR, First Aid and a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card.
  • One to five years’ experience preferred
  • Exceptional communication and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work independently
  • Proficient in electronic clinical documentation
  • Proof of TB test (negative results) and a Hep B vaccination 

Tools and Equipment Requirements

  • The ability to use a phone, computer, printer, and copier is required.
  • Frequent use of Microsoft office products, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to use the internet and various web browser software is required.

Physical Working Conditions and Office Setting Description

  • Some travel required to field locations to facilitate execution of responsibilities. Must provide proof of a valid driver’s license, valid auto insurance with, at minimum, state required insurance levels.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching.
  • Some lifting may be required.
  • Frequent and prolonged typing and frequent and prolonged operation of computer, keyboard, and telephones required.
  • Requires occasional use of fax machines, telephones, copiers, and other office equipment.
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
