According to a recent study by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, approximately one in five Americans suffers from mental illness. This equates to roughly 42.5 million people, and Arizona’s senior population are among the top suffering. Dr. Ray offers 10 warning signs of depression to look out for in seniors, including feeling sad, empty or hopeless, significant changes in weight, and diminished interest in most or all activities. Dr. Ray also recommends how to detect these symptoms and when to seek professional help.
