Instructor: Thomas Dishion, Ph.D.Professor Department of Psychology Prevention Research Center Arizona State University

The Family Check Up is a multi-dimensional approach to assessing the immediate and longer term needs of families presenting with behavioral and emotional difficulties. This structured evaluation and assessment process allows the family’s needs to be identified and addressed in 1) immediate single session consultation with recommendations and follow up, 2) short term, focused Parenting Skills and Family Management training, or 3) Problem Focused Family Interventions. This process has proven effective in both behavioral health and primary care setting in triaging families efficiently and moving them to intervention strategies consistent with the nature and level of needs.
