The Technology Director is responsible to oversee and manage the company’s technology operations and the implementation of new information technology (IT) systems and policies. An excellent Technology Director is very knowledgeable in IT and various computer systems and software. He/she has a solid technical background while able to manage and motivate people. The ideal candidate will be experienced in creating and implementing IT policies and systems that will meet leadership/company objectives. The goal is to ensure IT systems and personnel are effective and functioning within the limits of budget, time and specifications of the company.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all technology operations and evaluate them according to established goals
  • Develop and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies and goals set by leadership
  • Understanding of the following IT domains/controls: security administration, technology change management, data management, business continuity and disaster recovery, operations and problem management, and asset management
  • Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs
  • Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software
  • Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to leadership
  • Manages activities of staff and third-party contractors who provide hands on and problem-solving support to technology users
  • Control budget and report on expenditures
  • Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts


Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements

  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks, VPNs, VoIP phone systems, etc.
  • Experience in controlling information technology budget
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication abilities
  • Prior experience negotiating and overseeing vendor relationships
  • Prior experience leading and mentoring IT team members
  • BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field; MSc/MA will be a plus
  • Proven experience as Technology Director or similar role

Tools and Equipment Requirements

  • The ability to use a phone, computer, printer, and copier is required
  • Frequent use of Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • The ability to use the internet and various web browser software is required

Physical Working Conditions and Office Setting Description

  • Some travel required to field locations to facilitate execution of responsibilities. Must provide proof of a valid driver’s license, valid auto insurance with, at minimum, state required insurance levels.
  • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching.
  • Frequent and prolonged typing and frequent and prolonged operation of computer, keyboard, and telephones required.
  • Requires occasional use of fax machines, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment.
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
